For the Environment

We strive to earn a welcome place in the global community by demonstrating a commitment to fulfilling our corporate social responsibility. That includes tackling measures for preserving environmental quality and for enriching society.

Our plans call for incorporating environmentally beneficial features in all of our products by March 2017 and for eliminating landfill waste at all of our operations worldwide by March 2012. In addition, we are working through the Yokohama Forever Forest project to plant 500,000 trees at Yokohama plants worldwide.

Highlighting our technological commitment to environmental protection has been our annual participation since 2009 in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, in Colorado. The electric vehicle class in that race is the world’s most prominent competitive event for electric vehicles. And a Yokohama-sponsored electric vehicle won the 2010 event in record time.

Hangzhou Yokohama Tire Co., Ltd. was our first overseas plant to eliminate landfill waste.

These employees and family members planted tree seedlings in May 2009 at our Shinshiro Plant, in Japan, as part of the Yokohama Forever Forest project.

This original electric race car, sponsored by Yokohama, won the electric vehicle class in the 2010 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in record time.
