Yokohama Tire Philippines Given Overall Performance Award by President Arroyo for 2 Straight Years
Tokyo - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., today announced that Yokohama Tire Philippines Inc. (YTPI), a Yokohama Rubber group company, received an Outstanding Recognition for Overall Performance award two years in a row from Clark Development Corporation (CDC) on Wednesday, April 21, 2010. CDC is the administrator of the Clark Special Economic Zone and evaluated YTPI for its contribution to the zone in terms of investment, employment, environment-conscious management and worker safety/health. At the awarding ceremony, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as the guest of honor to the ceremony gave a commendation certificate to YTPI President Takayuki Hamaya.

This awarding is a program to publicly recognize the companies that have entered the Clark Special Economic Zone situated north of Manila on Luzon Island, demonstrated excellent management skills, and contributed to the development of the zone. After screening by CDC of 46 candidate companies, 6 companies including YTPI received the Outstanding Recognition for Overall Performance award. In addition, 11 other companies received special awards for Outstanding Environment and Health Management, Outstanding Investment Performance, Outstanding Employment and Human Resource Management Performance, and Outstanding New Investor.

Established in 1996, YTPI manufactures and distributes passenger-car tires. It was the first international company entering the Clark Special Economic Zone. Its activities contributing to local communities and environment for many years have been recognized, making the company the winner of "Overall Performance Award" (2009) and "Green Plaque Environment Award" (2008) from CDC and "Plaque of Appreciation" (2008) from the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources. These awards have enhanced the company’s reputation as the representative contributor to environment in Philippines. YTPI currently employs approximately 1,700 people.
