| | | | Yokohama Rubber Establishes Tire Sales Company in Thailand | | | Tokyo - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., today announced that it established Yokohama Tire Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in Bangkok, Thailand in May. The new tire sales company will begin sales activities in July 2008. It is capitalized at 200 million baht (approximately 600 million yen) with a full investment by Yokohama Rubber.
In Thailand, sales of Yokohama brand tires, mainly those for high-performance passenger car tires, are rapidly increasing. In the past, Yokohama Rubber has sold its tires through local tire distributors in the country. The company has however found it necessary to establish its own tire sales company so as to further expand sales of passenger car tires and strengthen sales of truck/bus tires and light truck tires that are manufactured by Yokohama Tire Manufacturing (Thailand).
With the establishment of the new company in Thailand, Yokohama Rubber Group now operates tire sales companies in 5 Asian countries outside Japan. Other 4 countries are Taiwan, South Korea, China and Philippines.
