 | |  | Yokohama Rubber’s Hangzhou Yokohama Tire Secures ISO 14001 Certification Production and Sales Base in China for Passenger-Car Radial Tires | |  | Tokyo - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., today announced that its subsidiary Hangzhou Yokohama Tire Co., Ltd., secured ISO 14001 certification in January 2006. ISO 14001 is an international standard for environmental management systems.
Established in December 2001 and financed 90% by Yokohama Rubber, 10% by YHI Holdings Pte., Ltd., Hangzhou Yokohama Tire manufactures and sells radial tires for passenger cars.
Yokohama Rubber seeks ISO 14001 certification for each of its Group companies in Japan and overseas, as well as for the parent plants. The Mishima, Mie, Shinshiro, Ibaraki and Onomichi plants, and the Hiratsuka factory - the main production site - had all qualified by July 1999. Among the Group companies, certification were secured by The Hamagomu Kousan Co., Ltd., and Hamagomu Engineering Co., Ltd., in July 1999; Yokohama Tire Philippines, Inc., in October 2000; SC Kingflex Corporation (Yokohama Rubber’s Taiwanese affiliate) in August 2001; the Hiratsuka-East and Nagano plants of Yokohama Hydex Co. (which merged with Yokohama Rubber in October 2004) in October 2001; YH America, Inc. in August 2002; and Yokohama Rubber (Thailand) Co., Ltd., in October 2003. The qualification of Hangzhou Yokohama Tire brings the total number of domestic and overseas operations certified under ISO 14001 to 15.
